MCCD BOT Resolution No. 2015-9: Retiree Emeritus Program

FACULTY RETIREMENT PROCESS

Steps to take before retiring:

  1. You must submit an official resignation letter with your intended resignation date to your Dean and the President. The resignation date should be December 31st or June 30th to avoid overpayments and disruption to your benefits.
  2. Contact CalSTRS directly at 1-800-228-5453 to determine your service credit and request information they need from you.
  3. These two CalSTRS forms must be completed before your retirement date.  Any delay may result in postponed pension payment.
  4. Contact Human Resources Benefits office, Ron Owen: rowen@marin.edu for information around applying for Medicare. You can find more information about Medicare here  https://hr.marin.edu/benefits/retirement and here https://www.medicare.gov/.
  5. Medicare applications must be submitted three months prior to retirement date.
  6. Complete CalSTRS Express Benefit Form and send to hrcom@marin.edu.
